Project 1- Landscape Study, Gig Economy Project Kenya
Client: Digital Transformation Centre, GIZ
Niza was contracted to do ecosystem mapping for the Gig Ecosystem in Kenya. This included designing and implementing activities for various stakeholders that were aimed at collecting data, analyzing it, and compiling it into a Landscape Study that would be used to inform future activities that GIZ would be implementing in their Gig Economy Project. The documents were also to be shared with GIZ partners. The mapping exercise required to map existing players, potential partners, gig workers, key stakeholders in the ecosystem, and digital labor platforms both locally and internationally that are playing a key role in the Gig Economy in Kenya. It also included creating strategy documentation that also played a big part in the development of the Landscape Study.


Project 2 - Mentorship Bootcamp, Dadaab, Kenya
Client: International Trade Centre - Geneva
Niza was awarded a consultancy to implement a Mentorship Bootcamp for 60 Freelancers in Dadaab in Hagadera, Dagahaley and Ifo Camps. The Bootcamp was delivered online via different platforms, however, the main focus was on the Upwork platform. Mock jobs were created on the Upwork platform through the Niza Client Account. The freelancers were hired under two job categories: Web Research Services and General Research Services. The focused skill was Web Research. Mentors acted as clients on the Upwork platform.

Kenya Blue Economy Debate - 2024
We are excited to announce our collaboration in the Kenya Blue Economy Debate, taking place on November 5th and 6th, 2024, at the Technical University of Mombasa. This event aims to foster dialogue among students and stakeholders about the blue economy's potential to address key challenges in Kenya, such as food insecurity, environmental degradation, and youth unemployment. Participants from 30 educational institutions will engage in debates on critical themes, including marine renewable energy, sustainable tourism, and ocean pollution. The event will also feature exhibitions showcasing innovative projects and culminate in the compilation of policy briefs to inform governmental and private sector strategies. Through this initiative, we hope to inspire actionable solutions and strengthen collaboration for a sustainable ocean future.
